The Ultra-Trail Harricana is much more than a race: it’s a festival of activities and fun that will keep you entertained all weekend long!

1km Pirate-Race

A race for children inspired by Kilian Jornet, also known as the pirate of Mont Blanc. No trail is too technical, but just enough to make them live the feeling of having accomplished something unbelievable! Parents can run with their child if they wish.

LA CLINIQUE DU COUREUR will get young people moving. Animation, structured warm-up, prizes and day care*. Everything will be done to ensure your child has a positive and fun experience! To register your children for La Clinique du Coureur’s 1 K Pirate Race, go to the registration page.

There will be two races for the 1km (bibs are functional for either one of them):

iPod Battle

The totally free iPod Battle, now in its second edition, presents an epic fight between experienced competitors! An event organized by Eastern Alliance Productions and presented by RE/MAX 1st Choice. 

PART 1 (9:00 p.m.) Compressport Canada (Alexandre Morain / Alain Sisler) and the Microbrasserie Charlevoix team (Frédérique Tremblay and TBA). 

GRAND FINALE (9:45 p.m.) The long-awaited return of two mid-race brutes: Simon-Pierre LeBlanc aka “Roch Le romantique” (Team The North Face / Red Corner) and Lawrence Colsell aka “Emperor Larry L Woop” (Team xactnutrition / Blue corner).

Be the fastest you can up Mont Grand-Fonds

  • Start waves every 30 minutes

  • 335 m/1,100 ft. of elevation 

Registration

Practical Information

  • Online registration: Pick up your bib and chip at the MEC booth in the race village
  • Onsite registration: Register and pick up your bib and chip inside the Mont Grand-Fonds lodge
  • Only the uphill trips count toward your race time
  • You can walk or run at the pace you want. We want it to be accessible and open to everyone
  • There will be an aid station with water and snacks at the summit where you can take in the breathtaking view of the Charlevoix region
  • You’ll get a race certificate with your name and time once you get back to the bottom of the mountain
  • Podiums for the best male and female times at 6:30 p.m. (subject to change)
  • Free advance registration or $10 onsite

Onsite Food Vendors

Several food-service partners will be at the event making sure visitors and spectators get their fill.

Pains d’Exclamation! bakery (featured in the photo) will be serving soup, sandwiches, cookies, pastries, brownies, muffins and the famous wolf bread (le LOUP, $1 from every loaf sold will go to the MS Society of Canada).

Café Chez-Nous gives you the choice of specialty coffees, hot chocolate, juice or smoothies!

Back again this year, Ronaldo of Moulin à Saucisses will be here with his sausage stand, serving up handmade sausages on flatbread.

Specialists in sports nutrition, Xact Nutrition would love you to try their products: Fruit2, Fruit3, E-Beet, ProKrunch.

PUR Kombucha: Come try this delicious, refreshing drink with many beneficial properties. Naturally fizzy and proudly made in Quebec!

Physiotherapy Services

Physiothérapie Mouvement Performance will be on-site to offer the timely, adequate quality physiotherapy assistance you might require (sprains, cramps, taping, acute pains, etc.), as well as counsel and advice in preventing injuries at the event.

For all questions and requests, runners are invited to visit the Physio PMP tent to meet with the two physiotherapists, Anick Gendron and Sameul Coulombe. Our sport nutritionist, Catherine Goulet (DtP, MSc), will also be available for all your nutrition-related questions.

Compressport Recovery Zone

The Compressport recovery zone was designed to help you relax and enjoy some physical relief after your race. Compression calf sleeves to try, lounge chairs with blankets, buckets of ice, stretching mats, foam rollers, nutritional snacks and rehydration drinks. Relax and discover the Compressport recovery products.

Many of our partners will have booths in the village, so stop by to see them. And there will be games, contests and surprises for everyone!

The North Face: Come see our new product lines or take a break in our rest zone. Try to “reach the summit” in our new game and you could win some The North Face prizes!

The Mont Grand-Fonds team will be on hand to share their love for this amazing mountain that has welcomed us since the very beginning of the Harricana adventure. Discover the full range of activities it has to offer in winter!

La Clinique Du Coureur, the global reference in the prevention of running injuries, will be here to share a whole host of good practices (running technique, nutrition, professional training, coaching, myths and facts, and more).

Event Launch

You are invited to attend a special launch event for this year’s Ultra-Trail Harricana, presented by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. 

Come and join us to run a few kilometers along the riverside with our honorary presidents, Pierre Lavoie and Kellyanne Lahaie, and the race’s founders, partners and headliners, in a friendly and symbolic race recalling the history of the event.

Smartwool for the Cause

Bar Service by Microbrasserie Charlevoix

Taste a specialty beer brewed by the Microbasserie Charlevoix, under the big tent. 

Non-alcoholic PurKombucha will also be served.

Massage Therapy

A discounted sport massage therapy service will also be available throughout the event. Whether you might feel a need for activation in your legs before the start, or a little recovery support after your race, Amélie Gauthier, masseur-physiotherapist, and her colleagues, will be on-site to help! Please make a reservation to the massage team as soon as you get on site in order to ensure that you get the care and support you need.

Fee: 20$ / 15 minutes, 40$ /30 minutes.

Shuttle Bus Service

Free continuous shuttle bus service between the Mont Grand-Fonds ski area, the Chutes Fraser campground and downtown La Malbaie (Tourisme Charlevoix parking lot).

Child Care Service

The whole family can come to the Ultra-Trail Harricana! Thanks to the child care centre, you can bring your kids to the event and still make the most of all the races and activities. The childcare workers will make sure kids registered for the 1-km race will be ready at the starting line!

Mandatory registration before Sept 6th. Space is limited; first come, first served. Children must be at least three years old.

Schedule:

  • Saturday: 8:00 am to 7:00 pm
  • Sunday: 7:00 am to 1:30 pm

Showers

Hot showers will be available to runners after their race. Don’t forget your towel and clean clothes! You’ll be able to leave a bag in a room (unsupervised) at the Mont Grand-Fonds ski centre.
